Try it, you might like it!

Hi,

Welcome to my recipe blog, I am so happy that you stopped by for a read and maybe some inspiration to try something different . I am a home cook who loves experimenting in the kitchen, revamping leftovers and saving vegetables that find themselves en route to the garbage.

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago and transplanted to the USA, my cooking reflects that fusion of Caribbean ingredients and techniques with a global influence .  These recipes  are a combination of traditional family recipes I grew up with as well as travels and flavours I have experienced and wanted to replicate with my own style . The name "Karifying in the Kitchen " morphed from my husband's teasing of my puttering around or "Karrying around" in the kitchen as well as my penchant for adding my own stamp to every meal. I always strive to keep my cooking flexible, to allow for easy substitution and shortcuts.

Hopefully, you will be  inspired to try a recipe or two and make it your own.  This ever growing recipe collection connects me to home and those family members and friends who are thousands of miles away. I hope in time my daughter can read these and connect the food that I make to her family members and her heritage .

I would like to say thank you to my mom and dad for cultivating a love of food in my heart and stomach. Thank you to my husband for pushing me to bring this idea to life as well as the friends who served as proofreaders , cheerleaders and recipe tasters!

"Try it you might like it!"

Trini slang for giving something new a chance.
